Invisalign Clear Braces
Invisalign® is an invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, or fix teeth that have ‘relapsed’ after traditional braces. It uses a series of clear, thin, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. In most cases, Invisalign is as effective as straightening teeth with traditional braces. The minimum age for Invisalign is usually over the age of 14 as long as the second molars are fully erupted.Book an Invisalign Consultation on 08-9474-1477To learn more about Invisalign or to book a consultation, call us on 9474-1477 during business hours or send us an email to book an appointment online. If you’d like to know more about Invisalign, we’ve included answers to common questions on the page below.
How does invisalign work?
The video below from Invisalign provides an overview of what Invisalign is, how it works and how it can benefit you:
After your initial consultation to determine your suitability, x-rays, photos and moulds are taken of your teeth and sent to the US. Invisalign ® uses 3-D computer imaging to show your teeth moving from their original position, to the final desired position.A series of “aligners” are then fabricated from this imaging to replicate the tooth movements needed to straighten your teeth. Once the imaging is approved by you and your dentist, you will receive your aligners 6 weeks later. Each aligner is worn for two weeks and then replaced by the next set in the series, seeing your dentist every 6 -8 weeks, until the final position is reached. Teeth are moved by controlled force placement on your teeth: this means moving certain teeth at certain times. Most people experience temporary discomfort for a few days when wearing a new aligner due to the new forces on the teeth: this can be easily relieved with pain killers as needed.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
- Nearly invisible: you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing
- Removable: you can eat and drink what you want; you can brush and floss normally to keep your teeth healthy
- Comfortable: there are no metal brackets or wires to cause mouth irritation
- You can see your own virtual treatment plan before you start: you can see how straight your teeth will look when your treatment is complete
How long do I need to wear my Invisalign Clear Braces?
The length of time that you need to wear your Invisalign aligners depends on the severity of crowding in your mouth. It can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years – the average is around 12 -14 months: but the length of time depends on you – if you do not wear your aligners, your teeth will not move! There are some conditions that can not be treated with Invisalign, for example severely tipped teeth, a combination of baby and adult teeth in your mouth, multiple missing teeth, patients with poor gum health and patients that want to change their facial profile. The video below explains some of the technology behind Invisalign and the process in more detail:
How much does Invisalign cost?
Sometimes your crowded teeth can be fixed by just moving the upper or lower teeth, and other times both upper and lower teeth need to be moved to get the result you want. The fee for treatment depends on the severity of crowding, and the number of aligners it takes to fix the crowding – if you only need treatment on the upper or lower teeth, it does not mean the price for treatment will be halved from the upper and lower teeth cost. Invisalign is a premium way to move your teeth compared to traditional braces. The technology used and patient benefits mean that the cost of Invisalign ® is based on the complexity of the treatment.Invisalign is usually slightly more than the cost of adult ceramic braces. At Elegant Smiles, our fees vary from $2,620.00 to a maximum of $8,980.00 for the Invisalign treatment, depending on the number of aligners that are needed. A 60% deposit is needed to commence treatment your Invisalign treatment and get your aligners manufactured. Invisalign is covered by your private health insurance orthodontic coverage (benefits differ between providers and levels of cover) and payment plans are available.
