University of Missouri researchers have developed a "Plasma Brush" that can make composite fillings last longer. In less than 30 seconds, the plasma brush uses chemical reactions to clean and disinfect the cavity for the filling. The "cool flame" of the plasma brush also forms a better bond for the filling by changing the surface of the tooth, allowing for a strong and robust bond with the filling material. Studies indicate that fillings are 60% stronger with the plasma brush which increases the filling lifespan. With composite fillings generally only lasting 5-8 years, and a tooth being only able to support 2-3 fillings over its lifetime, this could be a big benefit to patients and dentists alike!

Once upon a time, there was a small group of tooth fairies who lived in a tooth amongst the clouds called Elegant Smiles, in South Perth. There were 5 tooth fairies in total and they all loved to laugh. One day, one of the tooth fairies decided she was going to learn how to be a tooth-cleaning tooth fairy. She needed to spend 3 years learning how to be a tooth-cleaning tooth fairy and in her second year, found out she could only be a normal tooth fairy when she was on holidays from the Tooth Fairy University. All of the other tooth fairies were very sad. The tooth fairies had a meeting and decided to hold auditions for a new tooth fairy to come live with them. The tooth fairy that they were looking for needed to be relaxed, fun and loving, supportive and like to be spoilt occasionally. The tooth fairy also needed to be available for Tuesday all-day (until 7:30pm), Wednesday mornings, and either Thursday all-day or Friday all-day… To help us finish this fairytale, please call Sharon on 9474 1477 for an audition and visit our website www.elegantsmiles.com.au, for more information. Tooth fairies who have auditioned before, need not apply. View our SEEK ad Click here.
